I love it when nonbinary people (including me) try to describe their gender in the simplest possible terms to binary people. because the most common descriptions I see are “my gender is yes/no/sometimes/meh”
My gender is “*Politely sets it down* No Thank You.”
In moments like this I always fall back on the fact that they also aren’t speaking English because they don’t have England or the many languages and conquering peoples that contributed to the creation of the English language and therefore the work must be a translation into recognizable terms in our world’s terms. Call that Tolkien Brainrot.
This is the only way to do it, honestly.
Except I have a dimension hopping NPC so occasionally you get exchanges like this, between said disaster and “Tom” the Tabaxi Avatar of a god:
“Welp, how unfortunate for her. Say, Why the Fuck are you A Cat.”
Tom laughs. It’s a very Bright sound, curse him, “I was born one, lived for about thirty years as one. The stirring in the Glennwood caused me to remember myself.”
“Kitty Jesus,” I mutter to myself.
“Hm? What was that?”
“Nothing.” I say, “So why are you still a Cat. Don’t you have better things to do?”
If u want to write a story about a character that’s just you but hotter with a dark twisted backstory and magical powers and a pet falcon or something, I think u should just go ahead and do that. Who’s gonna stop you? The government?? Fuck the police.

The campaign I have ready is set in the Sword Coast region of Faerun, and should wrap up around the 13th level, though I’m willing to expand beyond that into the 20th based on character development.
For those who followed me about six months ago when I first brought up the Idea of GMing for Profit: The reason this is the first you heard from me since then is because I have been working a full time job while trying to pull my campaign together. The reason I’m doing this now is because my job will not let me go… and I really wish it would. And I can’t quit until I can make enough money to survive on. One game will not get me there: by my calculations I will need at least 3 games a week plus support from my Patreon (and Redbubble, which still exists) to replace my current income, but this is a start, and will give me a chance to reduce my hours so I can focus on the creative endeavors I actually want to spend my time on.

So, I’ve been playing in @lostindarkplaces’s games one night a week for over a year and a half and it’s a blast. They really know their stuff! They bend over backwards to incorporate your character’s backstory, combat is tight and well balanced enough to make you feel like a Big Damn Hero when you win, and they portray some of the best NPCs I’ve ever encountered in my 3+ years as a player.
